Use these auxiliary needles from Japanese brand Seeknit when knitting cable patterns.
Place the stitches to be crossed on the guide needle and place it in front or behind your knitting. Always use a guide needle that roughly matches the size of your knitting needles. These auxiliary needles have a double bend in the center so that the stitches stay neatly in place and don't slip off.

Seeknit plastic cable needles are handy auxiliary needles for anyone who knits cable patterns. The auxiliary needles are designed with a double bend in the middle that holds the stitches securely in place. This means the stitches won’t slip off while you continue working on the rest of your project.
Transfer the stitches you want to cross to the auxiliary needle, and place it in front of or behind your work, depending on which direction you want to cross the pattern. Always choose an auxiliary needle that is roughly the same thickness as your knitting needles, so the stitches slide off easily when it’s time to knit them.
The set consists of 3 golden-yellow plastic cable needles in the following sizes: small (10 cm long, 3.00 mm thick), medium (11 cm long, 4.00 mm thick), and large (12 cm long, 5.00 mm thick). With these three sizes, you can find the perfect cable needle, no matter what yarn weight or needle size you’re working with.
